Eiffel Scholarship is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel whose company made the design and built the Eiffel tower.
The Scholarship was created by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development in order to equip French higher education establishments to attract top foreign students to enroll in their master’s and PhD courses.
The scholarship is funding master’s courses lasting from 12 to 36 months and propose funding for Ph. D. applicants to spend 10 months in France via dual enrolment or joint supervision.
Doctorate or PhD level, for research periods in France of up to 12 months, as part of joint doctoral thesis supervision (ideally in 2 year of PhD) or cotutelle.
Scholarships are available in 4 main domains:
-Law studies;
-Political sciences;
-Economics and management;
-Engineering sciences at master’s level, Science in a broad sense at PhD level (engineering sciences; exact sciences: chemistry and life sciences, environmental sciences, mathematics, nano and biotechnology, physics, earth sciences, sciences of the universe, information and communication science and technology).
Levels of study are in the following programs:
– in an engineering program;
– in a MA program;
-in a PhD program in joint doctoral thesis supervision or a cotutelle, in partnership with a foreign university.
Scholarship’s duration
MA level:
– a max. of 36 months for an engineering degree;
– a max. of 12 months for entry at Master 2 level;
-a max. of 24 months for entry at Master 1 level.
Scholarship is not paying for any language courses.
The program is only covered by the scholarship for the time taking place in France.
If the program includes an academic exchange abroad, in a different institution, the stipend shall be suspended for time abroad, with deferral of the scholarship.
PhD level
Duration of the scholarship is max. of 12 months.
After approval, the stipend can be divided into few periods (2 or 3) in France of 3 or 4 months each. The scholarship can be divided over a max. of 3 calendar years.
Only law program students can take French language courses. This should be requested in the application form. If the language course is not clearly presented in the application form, it will not be granted after.
Benefits
For Master’s level- a monthly stipend of 1 181 Euro. In addition, the following are covered:
– national transport
– mutual health insurance and health insurance
– both directions plane ticket from your county to France and back
– local transport- it will be reimbursed max of 50 Euro for the travel by public transport or taxi between the airport/ train station and the study location
– different cultural activities
For PhD level level- a monthly stipend of 1 400 Euro. In addition, the following are covered:

Tuition fees are not covered by the Eiffel Programme.
Eligibility
– Nationality: Eligible for the scholarship are non-French nationals.
Candidates with two nationalities, one of which is French, are not eligible.
– Age:
* For MA level, candidates must be max. 30 years old on the date of the 2019 Campaign. So applicants should be born after March 1988.
* For PhD level, candidates must be max 35 years old by date of the 2019 Campaign. So applicants should be born after March 1983.
