๐ฑ Project Description
The Worldwide Friends โ Veraldarvinirย Camp leaders program in Hafnarfjรถrรฐur, Iceland ๐ฎ๐ธ is all about boosting environmental awareness across the globe. ๐ The main goal is to inspire both young locals and internationals to live sustainably in their everyday life. ๐ฟ Moreover, the project encourages fresh ideas that can help protect Mother Earth while empowering communities.
Camp Leaders will work as a team ๐ค under the guidance of the Project Manager. They will lead activities for short-term and long-term volunteers, who typically spend 5โ7 hours on environmental work during weekdays. In addition, leaders will join nature-oriented, educational, and environmental protection projects across Iceland ๐ฎ๐ธ. Typically, each volunteer group has 2โ3 leaders from the organization, ensuring smooth coordination and support.
๐ก Accommodation, Food & Transport
During the Camp leaders program, volunteers will stay at the Worldwide Friends Sustainable Centre ๐ , which offers comfortable facilities including beds, bed sheets, and free Wi-Fi ๐ถ. Rooms are shared by 2, 4, or 6 volunteers.
Furthermore, food ingredients are provided, and everyone shares cooking ๐ฉโ๐ณ and cleaning duties. Volunteers are even encouraged to bring their own recipes ๐ฒ and spices ๐ถ from home to share cultural tastes. ๐ Local transportation related to the project is also covered, making it easier for everyone to focus on the environmental mission.
๐ Training & Learning Opportunities
This experience is more than just volunteeringโitโs a chance to learn, grow, and connect. By hosting ESC volunteers, the organization adds a valuable international perspective to its internship programs, educational tours, and short projects.
Consequently, participants will explore various environmental sustainability techniques ๐, develop new skills, learn a new language ๐ฃ, inspire young adults through creative workshops ๐จ, and even design and implement their own project.
