ICYE Brazil invites young European volunteers to join the SASID Project, a Humanitarian Aid ESC initiative. This program offers a 10-month volunteering experience with the Umbúntu social project, located in a disadvantaged neighborhood of Alvorada city. Umbúntu provides a community and cultural space with workshops on edible plant processing 🌿, handicrafts 🧵, capoeira 🥋, percussion 🥁, and language teaching 📚. Volunteers will actively participate and even lead these workshops using non-formal education methods, fostering a rich intercultural learning environment 🌍.
Additionally, volunteers will engage in sustainable practices by helping with farming 🌱, permaculture gardening 🌾, construction 🛠️, and other manual activities related to the project. The main goals of the program are to offer humanitarian aid 🤲, raise awareness about climate change 🌍, and promote discussions on green alternatives 🌱.

Accommodation, Food 🍽️, and Transport 🚗
ICYE Brasil ensures volunteers are hosted comfortably with local families 🏠, offering hot and cold water 💧, Wi-Fi 🌐, a washing machine 🧺, and private/shared spaces. Volunteers receive breakfast 🍳 and dinner 🍽️ at home on weekdays, with lunch 🥗 and snacks 🍪 provided by the project. Weekends include all meals 🍴 at home. Since Umbúntu focuses on organic produce 🍅, volunteers can enjoy preparing and eating healthy food.
Transportation 🚍 to and from the project is arranged through local buses 🚋 or Uber 🚖 for easy commuting within Alvorada. Volunteers will also receive a monthly pocket money 💸 of 250€.
Training During the Activity 🎓
Volunteers will receive pre-departure training online 💻, followed by on-arrival training in Brazil 🇧🇷. A mentor 👩🏫 will support volunteers daily and help them integrate into the community. There will be a mid-term evaluation 📝 after 4-5 months, and a final evaluation before departure ⏳. A follow-up meeting will be held 2-3 months after the volunteer returns home 🏠.

ICYE Brasil ensures that volunteers are hosted in a safe and comfortable environment 🛏️. The ideal participant:
🌍 Is between 18 and 35 years old.
🗓️ Is available for the full duration (5 or 10 months).
🤝 Is willing to support an organization working in Humanitarian Aid in a non-EU country.
