๐ What is APRODEH?
APRODEH is a human rights organization operating in Lima, Ayacucho, Apurรญmac, and Huancavelica. It specializes in legal defense, strategic litigation, awareness campaigns, and advocacy with a focus on human rights, gender equality, and intercultural approaches.
โจ Volunteer Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will:

Create content for advocacy materials with a cultural and gender-sensitive focus.
โ
Organize training sessions and workshops for social leaders and youth.
โ
Support women’s collectives in empowerment initiatives.
โ
Assist victims and their families in memory and reparation projects.
โ
Design graphics, prepare reports, draft project proposals, and write articles for local media.
๐ Accommodation, Food & Transport
๐ก Volunteers will stay in safe housing with a private room and receive a monthly allowance for food.
๐ Travel from Lima to Huancavelica is by bus (approx. 10 hours).
๐ While Huancavelica has a quiet cultural scene, it offers opportunities to enjoy nature and traditional festivals. The nearby city of Huancayo (3 hours away) has more dining and cultural activities.
๐ Training & Learning
๐ Volunteers will gain hands-on experience with local advocacy networks, including:
- Violence Against Women Committees
- Regional Agricultural Management Committee
- Integral Reparations Plan Council
- Violence-Free Coexistence Advocacy Groups
๐ They will learn about the realities of Andean women in rural and urban settings through training, reading sessions, and advocacy participation.
๐ค Who Can Apply?
๐ก Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- A background in communication ๐ข (or related fields) is a plus.
- Knowledge of gender issues, intersectionality, and advocacy is highly valued.
- Experience in gender-focused advocacy projects is preferred.
- Essential skills: Empathy ๐, adaptability ๐, teamwork ๐ค, and analytical thinking ๐.
- Spanish proficiency (spoken & written) is strongly recommended.
